Musical Director:    Christine D Richards  A.L.C.M.  L.L.C.M.

A Brief History of the Choir

Since forming in 1992 we have performed in and around the county, helping to raise money for various organisations, from schools, hospitals and local charities. Donations amounting to date just over  £37,000.

We were formed in 1992 by a group of friends who wanted to share their love of music with as wide a range of audiences as possible.  Over the years the number of members have varied and at present they number around 30.

We are always on the look out for new members  especially MEN who just want to sing.   You don’t have to be a soloist – you just have to enjoy singing.

Our music is always varied and is light entertaining music – nothing too heavy or classical and so appeals to the general public.

We are completely self funding and donate all our money to charity.

We pride ourselves in having soloists and also groups within the main group who can perform in their own right.

We have a group of younger members "Another Dimension" who also perform their own concerts.

The group  Musical Dimension was formed  by Christine Richards and the first pianist was Miss Anne Kyte.   She retired and our assistant pianist Diane Marshall-Clarke took over.  Young Dimension evolved out of Musical Dimension and was directed by Christine’s daughter Debbie.  This younger group have at times numbered around 25 members and even when Debbie moved away she still came back to direct their concerts.   After moving back to the area she took over as pianist when Diane was forced to retire due to family commitments.  Since having two children she has now started her own venture called Starstruck Music Academy who also practise at Marehay Chapel on a Monday evening. Our practise and concert pianist is now Tony Wright you can read more about Tony on our Pianist page.

We have always been quite a family orientated  choir having over the years many husband and wife and family members.

We hope the audiences enjoy our programmes and we welcome any enquiries from the public both for concerts and also to become members.

Rehearsels are tuesday evenings @ Zion Methodist Chapel Marehay @ 7.30pm (ALL ARE WECOME)
