Our Musical Director

© of Musical Dimension 2009

Christine comes from a musical family dating back to her grandmother having  a wonderful soprano voice who still went out  “ to entertain the old folks”  when she was nearly ninety years of age.

Christine’s father Les  Land was one of the founder members of the group and at the age of 92 still has a fine tenor voice.   He retired from the group in 2009.

Christine learnt the piano from the age of 6 having lessons from Anne Kyte and later achieved the diplomas A.L.C.M.  and L.L.C.M for singing.  She is the organist at Marehay Methodist Church.  She was also for a few years  a member of Heage Band playing cornet, where she met her late husband Ian Richards who was a nationally renowned Trombonist being the lead trombone player for the famous CWS (Manchester  B and) under the leadership of Alex Mortimer.  Since his untimely death at the age of only 40 in 1987, Christine has continued finding strength through her music as the words of the John Miles “Music” states

Music was my first love
Music was my first love and it will be my last
Music of the future and music of the past
to live without my music would be impossible to do
In this world of troubles my music pulls me through.
